Chapter 22 – Life Is Short – page 121

The first time someone close to me died (my grandma from my mom’s side), I was around 16 years old, so I was old enough to understand what was going on. For very young children, it can be a lot harder. Maybe you’ve already experienced having a family member or close friend die. What was it like for you?

As this week’s chapter in Designer Genes points out, it’s not only old people who die (although that is obviously more common). Somehow we seem to expect old people to die — but not kids or teenagers, and not even our parents.

Since no one knows how long they will live, it’s really important for us to make our hearts with God while we’re still young! Be sure to read the very first section in this chapter, where it says, “Are You Ready?”

By the way, statistics show that car accidents are the #1 cause of death among tweens and teens so…

  • always buckle your seat belt!
  • be careful about riding in a car with a teenage or new driver
  • be careful when crossing or playing in streets

Now… here’s a little Bible quiz for you! I’ll give you the answer next week…

Which two men in the Bible never died? (Clues: Genesis 5 and 2 Kings 2)

Have a great rest of the week! 😀
